Clicks: Shop Assistant / Cashier
The core purpose of this role is to create a superior and positive customer experience by consistently delivering service excellence in all aspects of the job. This involves efficiently and effectively managing customer interactions, accurately and promptly processing transactions at the point of sale (POS), and actively contributing to the visual appeal and organization of the store through engaging and impactful merchandising efforts.
By excelling in these key areas, the role contributes directly to customer satisfaction, fosters loyalty, and ultimately drives sales and positive brand perception. This requires a proactive and customer-centric approach, a thorough understanding of POS systems and procedures, and a keen eye for detail in maintaining visually appealing and effective product displays.
The individual in this role is a key touchpoint for the customer and a crucial element in creating a welcoming and efficient shopping environment.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- in order to quickly and effectively complete all operational tasks at the point of sale.
- to uphold the highest standards of accuracy when scanning goods, collecting money for them, and processing clubcard benefits.
- to guarantee that money is always handled safely.
- In order to meet the clubcard participation goals, it is necessary to actively market the Clicks’ clubcard and sign up new members.
- to inform consumers about sales specials in order to make them “feel good and pay less” and to increase sales.
- To provide exceptional customer service by serving as a brand representative, being visible, and providing a warm, competent service.
- to effectively carry out and uphold all general cleaning and merchandising tasks in accordance with store and visual merchandise standards.
- to uphold and promote the company’s values in order to help the Group achieve its goal of becoming the consumer’s first choice health and beauty shop.
- must keep abreast of events, promotions, ranges, and items in order to always give customers accurate information.
Requirements:
- Grade 12 is a must.
- 50% in math and 50% in English at the grade 12 level are preferred.
Experience working with customers in a retail or fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) store is preferred and advantageous.
Competencies, abilities, and knowledge:
- Simple mathematical computations
- Experience in retail and FMCG, as well as knowledge of merchandising and promotion concepts
- Knowledge of stock management protocols
