Internships at the Department of Employment and Labor


In order to work as counselors, the Department of Employment and Labour is inviting South African graduates without jobs to apply for the 2025–2026 Presidential Youth Development Initiative.

For ten months following the date of appointment, the program is intended to give graduates job experience relevant to their qualifications. Candidates must be jobless and have never taken part in a developing program before.

A three-year relevant postsecondary degree in either industrial psychology or psychology at NQF6/7 is required. A psychology or industrial psychology honors degree will be preferred. It will be advantageous to be registered as a Registered Counselor (independent practice) or Psychometrist (independent practice) with the Health Professional Council of South Africa (HPCSA).

DUTIES: Provide the employment counselor with administrative support services. Investigate the needs of the labor market and the best strategies for employment counseling. Offer and carry out services related to recruiting and selection. Make connections with interested parties to confirm the caliber of services provided. Job seekers’ registration.

Monthly STIPEND: R7450.63
