This learnership fosters the idea of high-quality on-the-job training and will enable students to comprehend the fundamental ideas of all the main areas pertaining to the pharmaceutical environment and dispensing. Candidates will work as dispensary support for a set period of time until they register as learner basic assistants with the SAPC. Permanent work will only be granted after completing the requirements to become a basic pharmacist assistant.
Responsibilities:
comprise, but are not restricted to:
- the selling of drugs or substances that are listed in Schedule 1.
- Help with the production, modification, or compounding of a scheduled substance or non-sterile medication using a formula and SOPs that have been approved by the competent pharmacist.
- Help unpack, merchandise, and clean the dispensary and over-the-counter shelves as directed by the responsible pharmacist.
- any additional tasks that the dispensary manager assigns them.
- Accurately interpret scripts, behave responsibly and professionally, and adhere to the law as set forth by the South African Pharmaceutical Council.
- Make sure that medications are picked, packed, labeled, and checked accurately. You should also be aware of common dosages and significant drug interactions.
- Make certain that a pharmacist verifies the accuracy of each prescription and signs it.
- Help maintain inventory control for Schedule 1 through Schedule 5 medications or scheduled substances, including managing shelf cleanliness, packing, and expiration dates.
- Follow up with patients regarding follow-up visits and the script tracking report that the dispensary manager requested.
- Help with patient service phone calls and call center scripts.
- People should be informed in order to promote their health.
- Help with the plan authorization of cancer, HIV, and AIDS medications.
- Inform the dispensary manager of low- or out-of-stock levels and stock mistakes.
- Obtain dispensary stock in compliance with the company’s SOP.
Requirements:
- Pure mathematics and either physical science or life science in grade 12
- must have received a minimum of 50% on average.
Skills and Competencies:
- Read, write, and communicate in English and a second language.
- Time management, deadline-driven, pressure-tolerant, and detail-oriented.
- Effective communication, attentive listening, problem-solving, teamwork, dispute resolution, setting a good example, responsibility, professional behavior, reliability, and honesty.
