SANParks is hiring EPWP Semi-Skilled Environmental Monitors (x3)

Youth without jobs in South Africa are encouraged to apply for the EPWP Semi-Skilled Environmental Monitor Program 2025–2026 by South African National Parks (SANParks).

Location of the Internship: Western Cape, South Africa’s Agulhas National Park
Concerning the Program
There are three fixed-term EPWP possibilities available until March 31, 2026, through Agulhas National Park’s Biodiversity Social Projects Environmental Monitor Program. In accordance with EPWP rates, successful candidates will report to the Section Ranger/Ranger Sergeant and get R208 per day.
Minimum Requirements
- NCV Level 4 (Std 10) and Grade 12
- Desire to work in a field that conserves nature Good communication abilities
- Willingness to work a variety of hours, including weekends and after hours
- medically fit; a medical fitness test will be administered.
- Knowledge of fundamental health and safety concepts
- No prior criminal history (SAPS verification is required)
- Additional benefits: Computer proficiency and rudimentary firefighting instruction
- Age range preference: 18–35
Principal Duties
- Help with stock control, asset management, herbicides, vehicles, tools, and equipment
- Manage in-field administration (reports, logbooks, timesheets, and H&S checklists).
- Keep track of and document resource management information.
- Encourage and support the resolution of disputes with contractors.
- Help with the management of fires
- Camp cleanup, routine upkeep, and fence integrity monitoring
- Monitoring, rehabilitation, and removal of invasive alien species
- Reporting on waste management and program assistance
- Engage in environmental and community awareness initiatives.
- Assist with other conservation duties and ad-hoc tasks as needed
