The City of Johannesburg Metropolitan Municipality, through its Public Safety Department (JMPD), is excited to announce the launch of a comprehensive training program designed to identify and cultivate the next generation of dedicated law enforcement professionals. Needed Qualifications:

The person applying must:

Be a citizen of South Africa.
Have a valid high school diploma (Grade 12 or similar NQF Level 4 qualification).
Live in the Johannesburg Metropolitan area (Applicants must provide official proof of their address).
Not have been found guilty of any crime.
Agree to give fingerprints and other details so their criminal record can be checked.
Have a driver’s license (not a learner’s permit), at least a Code B.
Be between 18 and 35 years old.
Be in good physical and mental health. (A full medical report must be included with the application).
Be willing to take and pass a fitness test before training.
Not have any court rulings against them for fraud or corruption.
Be willing to go through background checks.
Be good at speaking and writing in English.
Be willing to carry a gun and wear a uniform.

Personal qualities:

The incumbent should possess the following qualities: dependability, honesty, the highest sense of justice and integrity, a positive outlook, patience, and the ability to work under pressure during all shift hours and weather conditions.

Conditions of Training:

In order to be considered for appointment as Metropolitan Police Officers, trainees for the position must successfully complete an 18-month training program.

The conditions of training contracts, Academy regulations, and RTMC training policy will all apply to trainees during the training. In accordance with city policy, trainees will be paid a stipend.

After training is finished:

The incumbent will be assigned to any part of the City of Johannesburg after taking the oath of office as a Qualified Metropolitan Police Officer, which is decided by the Municipality.
